PHUOC TICH POTTERY VILLAGE
Phuoc Tich Pottery Village, found in 1470, locates in Phong Hoa commune, Phong Dien District. This 500 years village has a beautiful view of scenery. It has a famous ceramic village and now people still keep 37 wooden-two outbuilding three-compartments house with original archietectures which prolonged over 100 years.Under the skillfulness of villagers, Phuoc Tich produced various nice products displayed in the Citadel and presented the pride of people here.
BRONZE CASTING VILLAGE
Hue bronze casting village locates on the right bank of the Huong River, 3km west of the city center. The villagers found their origin in Bac Ninh and Thanh Hoa provinces where their ancestors migrated to Hue since the beginning of the Nguyen Lords. When Hue became the capital city, the Nguyen kings had their most skillful men from all parts of the country gathered at this place to produce high class items for the court. Hue bronze casting village has contributed to Thuan Hua -Phu Xuan. Hue region many artworks of eternal value which represented the pride of local villagers such as the Bronze Jar, Urns Dynastiques or Great Bell. Presently, the village manages to preserve the whole process of traditional bronze casting to make varous artworks that satisfy the demand of tourist and local people.
Hue wood sculpture is mostly produced in city wards where most carpenters had their origin in My Xuyen wood sculpture village in Phong Dien District. The village is the cradle of many skillful craftsmen whose artworks for architecture and high class furniture reach their climax.
Shell inlay, also known as mother-of-pearl inlay, is amongst the carving arts with highest techniques. Mother-of-pearl inlay in Hue was significantly developed under the nguyen Dynasty with most products used by the royal and noble families. At the present, this craft is developed with a wider range of products to serve domestic need and export.
Embroidery in Hue has a long history and reaches it climax under the Nguyen Dynasty when the most famous craftsmen nationwide came to the capital city to serve the royal family, high class people and costumes for folk rites. Nowadays, embroidery products mostly cater the need of enjoying artworks and beautifying of local people and tourists such as embroidered picture, traditional aodai, scarf and other items for ritual purpose.
BAMBOO & CANE KNITTING VILLAGE
Bamboo and cane knitting was inherently a developed craft in Vietnam. With abundant materials and under the creation of craftsmen, many products of hight value have been made. Under the feudalism , all bamboo and cane-knitted products were made in Bao La village, a countryside famous for its skillful villagers and high knitting techniques. Even though bamboo and cane knitted item is no longer in its heyday due to the presence of other substitutes products, the craft village still exists and develops.
Ke Mon Village is known as a jewelry village formed by Mr. Cao Dinh Do and his son Cao Dinh Huong, the two founders of jewelry craft in Hue. Due to its own characteristics, craftsmen here came from different provinces and even different countries. Yet, they were trained and intimatedrelations in Hue City, a characteristic that make it unique from other craft villages.
Hue is the place where ancient lacquerwares have been well preserved. Developing along with architecture and sculpture, lacquer was present all aver, from village pagoda to tomb, royal residence and palace. In addition, lacquered items can be found in both normal and noble families, most popular are horizontal lacquered board, paralel-sentence panel, box, palanquin, table and sitting floor.(Hue city people's committee)
